I would argue that those controls aren't buttons, they track relative movement so where you actually press doesn't matter, it's tracking the distance and direction from your initial press. The entire touchpad is the button in that case, you aren't mapping multiple location-sensitive buttons.

anyone who has tried to play a videogame using digital buttons on a smartphone, or tried to operate a built-in tablet for their car knows that this is a terrible fucking idea. Tactile buttons are necessary for videogames. They are how you know where your fucking fingers are.

I can understand her frustration with the film. I was similarly disappointed by how far it strays from the source material. However, The Odyssey is one of the most adapted stories ever written and if you're going to tackle it, having your own voice and vision is what will make it stand out.
