The fact that they're holding up a sign saying it's a "bad investment" says a lot. If it were a good investment, would that make it any better? When those in power are unmoved by loss of life and are more responsive to issues of profit & loss, it's clear that our fundamental problem is capitalism.

How would that help, given that Democrats will never push for any such prosecutions in any meaningful way? The Biden administration had Trump on election interfering, but they slowed down the process so it would never get to trial. Democrats are not the good guys. It's all a big club.

When has what Congress votes on ever stopped Trump from doing anything? I mean, what you're saying doesn't matter! Trump does what he wants. Heck, he did stuff like this in his first term too, and Democrats didn't do a damned thing about it. Trump knows he can do what he wants and get away with it.

How often have presidents gone to congress to get their go-ahead for a war? The last time was in 1941 during World War II. The US Constitution hasn't mattered in decades. This didn't start with Trump.

It doesn't matter if they suspect someone like Trump or Farage. I mean, why should they care that they suspect him when no one else is promising them a way out? Heck, if you're hanging over a cliff by your fingernails, about to fall, and a serial killer offers you a hand up, would you refuse?

I've explained it, but you don't get it. It's easy for someone who isn't facing financial insecurity to mistake abject desperation for foolishness. What option do desperate people have? I mean, can you not empathize it at all with the people who, in desperation, clutch at even the filthiest straw?

So it's not stupidity - it's fear and desperation.

And maybe you wouldn't vote for him, but there are many on the right, and the politically unmotivated, who would, if they were desperate enough. When the other parties are pushing austerity that's all it takes to get someone like Farage or Trump into power. Hitler got power with 37.3% of the vote.

But you've already been shot in the foot, time after time, by the political system. And you don't "know" - you only suspect that someone like Farage/Trump will be the same. With the other parties you "100% know" because they're the ones who have been doing it to you. So why not try the new guy.

When you see the conservatives and Labour (or in the US, the Democrats and Republicans) push austerity for decades, you KNOW they're not going to help you. Then someone comes along who claims to be an outsider promising hope and change. Sure he's a racist nutcase, but what have you got to lose?

Have you ever been homeless and broke? I have. Trust me, you will do anything, vote for anyone who you think might get you out - even if you know that he's probably a grifter - if there's even a 1% chance he'll save you, you're gonna vote for him, because you don't see any other option.
