Never buy a smart appliance without some form of manual control. Buttons, touch screen, even an app if it just uses Bluetooth and doesn't need an account, but make sure there's a way to use your appliance if the servers die.

It's less of a problem for simple scripts and tools, obviously, but any remotely complex vibe coded software seems like it would be horrific to optimize or iterate upon.

Right, but there's good code and less than good code, and either type can have great commenting or no commenting at all. If the code doesn't work well and there isn't any in-code documentation of what each part does, actually editing it seems like a nightmare.
