Yes, climate change is real and effecting us now. AND let's focus on how we can protect our communities; it's very easy to fall into doomerism.

As I often say, it's about mitigating this potential Permian extinction-level catastrophe into a comparatively small bubonic plague-level disruption.
Ellie SaurusI don't think this is doomerism. Doomerism is saying "climate change is inevitable, why bother trying to do anything?" I'm mourning that it's gonna suck for decades and perhaps centuries because of man-made climate change, but we gotta work as hard as possible to make it suck less.
Doomerism is a thing, for sure, but also the reality of the climate crisis is quite dreadful. You can be realistic while also remaining hopeful. I think that’s better than deluding yourself that things aren’t that bad. We are seeing victories all the time, but I think it’s only normal to grieve too.
Remember that this smoke is climate change visualized. If we want a smoke free future we have to combat it in every arena: transportation, infrastructure, housing, waste management, energy use, etc. It also means, combating doomerism, we can take action for a better future! No battle is too small!
