Concern about gas prices has risen sharply among Americans: 56% now say they are very concerned about this, up from 34% in January. Large majorities of Americans also remain very concerned about the cost of healthcare, housing and food and consumer goods.

Americans remain in a sour mood about the economy: Just 24% say economic conditions in the U.S. today are excellent or good. 41% say they are “only fair” and 35% describe them as poor.

How did we measure engagement? Surveys often overestimate how engaged people are in public life, because those who are more engaged are more likely to take surveys. So for our study on public engagement, we took extra steps to capture those harder-to-reach people. #PewKnightInitiative

Ahead of the November midterms, neither Republicans nor Democrats hold an advantage on economic policy among Americans.

82% of Republicans support setting age limits for elected officials in Washington, D.C. ⚖️When asked about similar limits for Supreme Court justices, Republican support drops to 68%. Across parties, most Americans support political system changes that likely would require amending the Constitution.

Most voters say Trump is a factor in their midterm vote. 42% view their vote this fall as a vote against Trump, while 22% view their vote as a vote for him.

The Trump administration asked #SCOTUS to make way for an executive order that restricts voting by mail. Mail voting is supported by a majority of Americans, though there is a wide partisan divide on this -- as well as several other proposals related to voting and registration.

Concern about territorial disputes between China and its neighbors has been high in certain Asia-Pacific countries, like Japan, for over a decade. But it's shifting in others — Australians and Indians are less concerned about this now than in 2024.
