Wow, I can’t… I don’t know how anyone can think like this. “I put it to him that he was equating one Jewish life with hundreds or even thousands of Palestinian lives. "No," he said, "millions. One Jewish life, it's 10 million [Palestinians]." “ www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Given the danger of people setting off fireworks to the land at the moment, and the danger to people of setting off fireworks themselves, not to mention the effect it has on noise sensitive people and animals… If anyone wants to offer their views to the government on fireworks, they’re asking.

There’s a govt consultation on this right now. Well worth 5 minutes of your time if it makes a difference www.gov.uk/government/c...

Omg, this is amazing news. My son’s ex-girlfriend had serious issues all through school with something that “might” have been this, that, or the other, but she suspected was endo (and women are often right, even when they’re teen girls). It’s a horrible condition.

Ada Palmer

Endometriosis takes nine years to diagnose. That’s about to change. NICE has approved two tests: a saliva test reading microRNA markers, and a gut-sensor test returning results in 45 minutes, sparing women the keyhole surgery currently needed. buff.ly/QX3jHk8 #ShareGoodNewsToo

Cheaper still to pay family carers enough that more people could afford to give up work and look after disabled and elderly family members, as they tend to be prepared to work far longer hours. Coincidentally, there’s a call for evidence on Carer’s Allowance going on now… shorturl.at/WXlJi

Hmm, I seem to remember the Guardian being rather critical of Hannah Spencer for pointing out the problem: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I hate the people who did this and the people who ordered this so much.

In fact the judge’s ruling says, with hilarious bluntness, the following: “This was not a close case. It was not an arguably close case. Once someone read the works, it was an open and shut case”

Courtney Milan

You may recall the case where Lynne Freeman sued Tracy Wolff for writing a YA set in Alaska where the male lead was hot and broody, just like in Freeman's book. This litigation went on for three years before a judge finally read both books and said there was zero infringement.

Oh, they’ve finally admitted it. I hope they’re sued into the ground by the people they arrested. It’s a pity that you can’t sue specific people for slandering your name, really. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If I wear glasses for too long, they push my nose into my face. I’m glad I have an ENT appointment in late August but i hope they believe me because I can’t sit around in glasses for two hours to prove it (or lie on one side to prove the septum slides to one side after that time then). Hate my body.

It’s good to know some places are taking the climate crisis seriously AND looking into how fossil fuel companies are (excuse the pun) fuelling it. My friend Rosie is on here at 32:26, talking about just that. www.voicefmradio.co.uk/player/on-de...

*All* of my family use the slop machine. Not, thankfully, all the time. But too much. Being asked to look through and comment on/correct a letter written by AI by a family member was kind of the ultimate insult for me. I’ve not made my opinions *at all* secret about LLMs.

Aparna Nair

yes, actually I do think AI-use/adoption is a fundamental declaration of what you value and what you don't and its really silly to believe that such declarations won't be noticed by those around you
