AND the shipment I actually received is another product of theirs that is genuinely really amazing for teachers and students on a budget, they sell their factory seconds and leftovers in boxes of 144 for $5. Five dollars. I was already thinking of buying some to donate to the school.

For the pencils I'd already received? "Just find a use for them. School's starting, you could donate them." I'm still in shock that even though it seems they never saw my email, they'd already caught it, resolved it, and were aware of my specific issue when I called.

I get put on hold for all of 10 seconds before a young man picks up and introduces himself as Jaden. I briefly restate. "Ah, yeah, I just talked to the other guy who got your order yesterday. After we talked to him we sent out the correct orders, it should already be headed your way."

I press 2. It rings twice. A human answers the phone and asks how they can help me. I start describe how I got the incorrect order. They say "it was one digit off, wasn't it? Yeah, that'll be Jaden, I think I just saw him heading back to his office, give me one moment." There's no way, right?

I still hadn't gotten a response to my email a day or two later (in all fairness it's a gmx address so maybe it got caught by their, like, Outlook 2016 spam filter or something!) so I remembered to call them again around 2 and /did/ get a directory tree this time. "Press 2 for customer service."

Im already in love, from the very human mistake (if you've ever had tedious repetitive jobs like packing orders you get it) to getting a human on the phone with no delay to the idea of a factory still out there in 2026 where the horn blows at noon and all the machinery stops for 1 hour for lunch

I sent an email with some pictures. The next day I called the number on their website around 12:15, and instead of the usual directory greeting, a lady at their front desk picked up and informed the entire factory was out for lunch at this hour, and that I should try calling back later.

The reason I had to call them at all was a very silly, somewhat unprofessional, and human mistake: I got another person's order in my box. The shipping label had my name, but the packing slip and contents were someone else's order - and order number exactly 1 digit higher than mine. Thats just cute!

I'm going to go ahead and promote Musgrave Pencil Co, they somehow survived the collapse of American manufacturing and still make pencils in the same factory in Tennessee 100 years after they opened. I just had a phone call experience with them that made me feel transported into the past.

I haven't looked at stamps in a hot minute but damn the new usps international stamps are very nice

The real reason your plumber is ripping you off is because they forget to send the bill to half their customers so they need to make up for it by double charging all the others

Calling the electricians like "Hey, we got some work done like a week and a half ago..." And they're just like "oh yeah! I see that. Did you want me to send it to your email?" ...Yes. Yes I want you to send it to our email. Why have you not already done that. Why did I have to call you to get that.

It's so funny that since starting my current job I have had to contact so many vendors and contractors to ASK THEM to send us the bill for the work they already did for us!!! The economy so fucked businesses have started forgetting they need to get paid to keep running!?
