I'd say the same—not actively avoided, just a ton of cool alternatives so I had no reason to worry myself. I, too, had a dalliance with 4e, but only as an interested reader, mostly fascinated by the shift of presentational style in encounters as self-contained micro-biomes.

I'll just cc you both into future Reddit posts that leave me scratching my head because I've played a couple of hundred different game systems (or more) in the last 40 years and don't understand all this nonsense about D&D being the beginning, the middle and the end.

That first was a Reddit quote. I get it. Microcosms of gaming vary by country and location, but there are always possibilities behind coercing your colleagues into playing games they don't want to. I don't see what the problem is because I've never had that problem, I guess.

The Adept tier and higher for Polearm Mastery is broken, really, but that's the case with scattered Abilities and their application. Frustrating, as I love the setting and wish it wouldn't become such a mire of mechanical conflict.

I bought it specifically to run it, so the usage prospect is already high. It was also inexplicably cheap, despite come from the US. Physically, a very nice artefact and I'm already a couple of dozen pages in (slow reader... this might take a while). I'll report back when I run it!

It has been interesting. I was sort of disappointed to see some muttering on the fringes seeking out more straightforward question prompts. A single word has been more than enough to get my mind racing. I just hope that I can keep up with the pace.

There's a list of Abilities, but it isn't a strict list at all. It expands and contracts sometimes. Some Abilities are only applicable in certain settings, or I have considered variants. I'm not keen on explaining Abilities in the Genre Setups, but sometimes I need to. 2/3
