And some people don't realize that counter voices to what you are likely thinking is the "moral thought" of the bible can be found in the pages of bible itself. That's what happens when you have multiple writers interpreting multiple oral & written traditions over more than a thousand years.

You can almost always find a counter voice in any era to whatever morally repugnant idea held the day.
