Being on vacation in Europe with the algorithm-free Bluesky feed has been nice but also revelatory in terms of having a better blend of people and ideas - not just having American anxieties put in front of my face on the regular.

Seeing stories like this after just having been in Amsterdam and seeing how the Netherlands treats its seniors (with well-maintained subsidized housing, universal health care, and numerous ways to live a dignified life as a full part of society) really does give away the whole game in America.
