A seat in the Lords is not just an honour. It is a position inside the architecture, with access to committees, appointment processes, and the fast-track channels through which public money flows.

A political donor is 200 times more likely to receive a peerage than an ordinary party member, and 20,000 times more likely than the average voter. Money does not formally buy a seat in the Lords, but this is not a fucking coincidence it's corruption

You think you live in a democracy but you do not! Between 2013 and 2023, 68 of the 284 peers nominated by party leaders were political donors, giving a combined £58 million. Fifteen of sixteen Conservative Party treasurers received peerages after donating £3 million or more.

of the 438 quangos described in my previous post, someone decides who sits on the boards, who chairs the committees, & approves the contracts. Look at who those people are and a pattern is visible. The same names rotate between the bodies that spend public money and the companies that receive it.

Seema Misra ran the post office in West Byfleet. In 2008, she was suspended over a £74,000 shortfall that did not exist. On 11 November 2010, she was sentenced to fifteen months in prison. She was eight weeks pregnant. She served four and a half months. Her conviction was overturned in 2021.

Blair created 92 quangos, more than any other Prime Minister. Cameron’s 2010 “bonfire of the quangos” abolished 192, but most functions quietly migrated into new bodies (spending still increased). Starmer created 27 since July 2024. One of them, ironically, is called the Office for Value for Money.

At a time when taxes are at all-time highs and public services are crumbling, a third of all public spending is flowing through bodies most people have never heard of, run by people they cannot vote out, under structures Parliament struggles to follow. Half a million people work for these bodies.

£391 billion a year, is not spent by government departments. It is spent by 438 separate publicly funded bodies that ministers cannot direct, Parliament cannot easily scrutinise, and voters cannot remove. Within these 438 bodies, 315 people are paid more than the Prime Minister.

HS2 The first question is whether criminal fraud occurred inside the project. The Serious Fraud Office has received statements from former HS2 Ltd employees alleging exactly that. Fraud, bribery, document shredding, cost figures manipulated to ensure money kept flowing. still no charges.

No interest rate rise for now, but three of the nine members wanted an increase, apparently thinking that inflation caused by oil price increases, in turn caused by war, represent excess demand in the UK economy that they must stamp out with an interest rate rise, when the exact opposite is true:

Andy Burnham keeps on talking about opportunities for young people whilst the Bank of England is deliberately holding interest rates high with the intention of creating unemployment. We do not have unemployment by chance in the UK; we have it deliberately.
