21/ 3 different tools, one purpose. Buy the trial courts with appointed judges. Buy the appeals court with a new statewide bench. Override the DAs, the juries, and even judges from your own party when they get in the way. Watch who funds your local judicial races. That’s where this actually starts

20/ Here’s who actually pays for all of it. The same year Perry was pardoned, Austin paid out more than $27 million to protesters injured by police, and most of those officers walked. Meanwhile, a patient hurt by hospital malpractice is capped at $250,000, no matter how bad the harm.
1/ Six rich Texans gave $100M to a group called Texans for Lawsuit Reform. That 💰 built a brand new court system where judges are not elected, they are appointed by governor, specifically so corporations never have to face a jury of regular Texans again. #DV1 #ProudBlue #Voices4Victory #USDemocracy
Call your senators! Insist they vote no on Blanche. Pile on the pressure! As for the Anti-weaponization fund-you know they’re lying. It’s not dead despite Blanche formally rescinding because Trump is appealing it in court. This guy is not fit or for “we the people”. #BlockBlanche #ProudBlue #Pinks
Adding the piece that explains why this doesn't stay a spreadsheet story. Henry Giroux argues university neutrality is complicity when schools stay quiet while the conditions for honest teaching and dissent get stripped away. laprogressive.com/foreign-policy/university-neutrality
2/ The Academic Freedom Index Update 2026, from FAU Erlangen-Nurnberg and the V-Dem Institute, is built on 2,357 expert assessments across 179 countries. It found decline in 50 countries over the last decade. Only 9 improved. Report: al-fanarmedia.org/2026/04/acad...
1/ US university autonomy just fell faster in five years than Hungary managed under a decade of Orban's rule. The score dropped from 3.3 to 1.7 between 2019 and 2025. Here's the index that proves it and what's driving the crash. 🧵 #DV1 #ProudBlue #Voices4Victory #USDemocracy
This is a beautiful way to kick off the week.
Tristan BouchardMonday morning jazz ☀️ I'm immensely enjoying this daily tradition here on Bluesky as I work through the many fake books I've collected. Today's pick is a Cole Porter tune from 1936, nominated for an Academy Award (losing to "The Way You Look Tonight"). I've Got You Under My Skin- Cole Porter
Rubio has no soul, but watch out because he will run for president in 2028.
Trump Doesn't Want You To See This Jobs Study Trump swore deporting immigrants would open jobs for everybody else. A new study proved him wrong. Nobody wins. Not the immigrant. "ICE activity lowers the employment rate of US-born male workers." Thread. 🧵 www.commondreams.org/news/is-ice-...
The Study Economists Elizabeth Cox and Chloe East built the first national study of Trump's ICE surge and jobs. They compared places where ICE hit hard against places it didn't. Did that create jobs for citizens, like Trump promised? The National Bureau of Economic Research says no.
Their own words: "We show no evidence of positive effects on the labor market outcomes of US-born workers." Not modest gains. Not mixed results. None. Worse, actually. "ICE activity lowers the employment rate of US-born male workers." The raids didn't open doors. They shut them.
Two Ways Jobs Disappear First, the blunt way. ICE arrests someone, that job's gone that day. Second, the quiet way. Economists call it a "chilling effect." Legal workers stay home, scared showing up gets them swept up too. 43% of immigrants feared deportation. Fear spreads through a workforce.
Why Your Neighbor's Job Depends On Someone Else's Construction crews lock together like gears. Roofers, laborers, framers. Pull immigrant gears out, American gears stop too. For every six undocumented men pushed out, one US-born man without a degree loses his job too. A guy, gone by Monday.
Follow The Money Scared people don't spend money. They stop shopping. They stay home. The Immigration Research Initiative said it plain: people touched by ICE "no longer shop at businesses, eat at restaurants, and pay taxes." Losses cluster in restaurants, not factories.
California, By The Numbers A statewide ICE surge: 15,600 immigrant men pushed straight out of work. Another 615,000 lose work from fear alone. And 466,000 US-born Californians lose their jobs too. Everyone gets hurt.
Not Just The Big Blue States Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont. Small states, small immigrant populations, quiet economies. Run the math anyway. Mass arrests pull roughly 300 immigrants from the workforce there. Fallout: about 700 US citizens lose jobs too. Rural New England pays the same bill as LA.
"Self-Defeating," In His Own Words James Myall, senior economic policy analyst at the Maine Center for Economic Policy, put it plain. "This proves how self-defeating Trump's immigration policies are." "These arrests are cruel and unnecessary, and hurting the Americans Trump promised to help."
The Lesson, If Anyone's Listening Cruelty was never a jobs plan. It's cruelty wearing an economic argument as a costume. The people who sold mass deportation as a way to fill your pockets lied. The data says so. Share this. Send it to the neighbor who thinks the boot on a brown neck helps him.
