Among all the insanity of the story itself, this is a great example of why local media matter.

How convenient of Pablo releasing this episode, including David Samson revealing the "get the public to pay for it" strategy, the day before a public work session between the City of Portland and the Trail Blazers

The part where Pablo explains the terms for the soccer stadium in RI and Samson is like "I'm in!" and then Pablo has to explain that actually he was talking about how awful the deal was for taxpayers, not about how great it was for private investors...oof 😬

David Samson basically gives up the game on getting public financing for sports stadiums and it's maybe the C plot in this episode?

This episode was ridiculously good. This year-long Kawhi & Aspiration saga is capital-J journalism with theatrics as a chocolatey coating. Being curious, being dogged in your follow-up, and pounding the pavement are tenets of the craft that will always work. New Media journalism is pretty rad.

This entire episode is so so good, and touches so many wild places. Holy hell. @pablotorrefindsout.bsky.social gets into stadium financing so completely. David is fascinating. Must listen.
