23-year-old LHP Luis De León makes is AAA debut for the Tides tonight. His numbers at AA might look mediocre but he was hit by some bad HR/FB luck and he caught fire over the last 6 weeks. 1.80 ERA over his last 8 GS with 49 K to 14 BB in 40 IP.

Call makes some sense for the Orioles as well. RHH bat who hits lefties well and can play all 3 OF spots. 3 years of control, could plug in if Ward is traded or just be a Leody upgrade if not. Fills a hole next year either way.

It’s a travesty that Manny Machado isn’t a lifetime Oriole. I’m open to that argument and criticism of the institutional failures, and the economics of the contemporary game, that led to that outcome. But the actual trade wasn’t bad. They got 7.5 WAR out of a yearslong rotation piece for a rental.
