Anybody else wearing a chiton to go see Odyssey? No? Just me? All right.

I started practicing this a few years ago and it vastly improved my life. I try to come from a place of curiosity instead of snap judgment, because I know that "snap" is my biases at work. I'm not perfect, but I cannot recommend this enough.

One of our beloved and deeply respected elders has passed, on his own terms. What is remembered lives; Mike will live forever. From his memorial: "He could no longer march, but as he told a friend, 'I can still stir the pot.'"

Sitting in my favorite diner and the people next to us are listening to an audiobook we can all hear, pausing it while they discuss. Guess the book. PLEASE guess what book they’re listening to.

Manchester was one of my home towns. I remember walking down to the tiny library, getting my books, then going over to the market to get a cream soda. Then I’d go right outside to our little beach, looking across the Sound to admire Seattle.

Over half of 2SLGBTQIA+ people live in red states and if your response is to scoff and tell them to move to a blue state, grow the fuck up.

Also, while I’m on a tear, fuck Andy Serkis too. Using “well it was based on Norse mythology” as an excuse is weaksauce. The Vikings were an open culture, the medieval age was not really that white, and canonically Sam has dark skin. Get wrecked, amateur.

I’m usually pretty resilient. Working in my line of work, we have to be. But sometimes, a couple things hit just right and I get so mad. Just so fucking mad at having to constantly skate uphill. I’m not giving up, but I have to keep fighting the same goddamn fights over and over and I’m just tired.

A big thanks to the secretary of defense for literally saying testosterone makes you a man and launching a project to *checks notes* oh, provide gender affirming care to any soldiers with low testosterone. How progressive! Seriously. I knew if we waited, you’d be this stupid, and I was right.
