Pic is of a chart of global average temps from 1850 to the present, titled “Five straight years warmer than anything before 2023”. The last two data points are projections for 2026 and 2027. 2026 looks likely to tie with 2024 as the warmest, then 2027 comes along and blows them both away.

I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

My parents had Pogo collections. I devoured them. Then we got some big thick compendiums of Krazy Kat and Li’l Orphan Annie. I read all of these so often, I broke their hardback spines.

The picture shows a swathe of high temps in the Arctic Circle in Siberia, with the 100F spot marked. I knew it to get to the low 90s inland in Alaska during our time there, but this is much further north, and much hotter. ❤️

Two years. Knowing what was going on, and only talking about it when it becomes public and Moreno starts slandering his daughter. Not exactly a shining example of courage. Though, yes, private family messes are hard to talk about. But once the guy started running, *that* was the time to go public.
