I paused after my run at the trailhead, beside a pasture with five Black Angus bulls. Two cyclists also paused to make some adjustments. “Look at how huge those cows are! Those are some biiiig ladies. Hey big ladies!” I was polite & kind & said nothing. Coming here now for my due praise.

Lammas. One of the calendar’s thin places, when we feel the light moving—reminding me that light is the most incredible thing. When I grow up & go elsehow, I hope to turn into light. One of the things I love about Quaker practice is our holding vulnerable things in the Light.

Donkey & toast. Two of the undeniably blessed, best things in this sometimes exhausting world.
