There have been enough cases of western Europeans and Brits being imprisoned for months for no reason that I think we can attribute at least some of this to plain old sadism.

So, ICE has kept this woman in prison for over a year for misdemeanors that she already served her sentence for, which judges apparently didn't think warranted prison in the first place. Just because they can. This is not law enforcement. No law requires this.

Especially since it was a writing class where we'd had to turn in the thesis first, so I had to go to the professor halfway through to explain that I HAD to change the thesis and why. 😄 I've always thought of that as the best paper I ever wrote in college, because I learned so much from it.
