In 1986, GRID/AIDS was a death sentence. The lucky ones died before their friends, family, or lovers abandoned them. I spent a lot of free time helping in tiny kitchens, where (mostly) women would prepare meals for people too sick to feed themselves. I made many friends, then. They're all gone now.

Transitioned in autumn in my 49th year. I'm 50 now. And many mornings I feel like I'm in my 20s all over again. These shots are both from the July 4 weekend, a year apart, and 40 weeks into HRT. I have never been happier.
