He probably would have hated Bush too. I gave up aviation as a career path before Trump’s first term, but when I was in it pilots were all the most libertarian psychos you could imagine. Even my Aviation History course in college had a whole chapter on why airline deregulation was a good thing.

When I did my instrument rating long cross country I went to Nantucket. When going outbound ATC vectored us over Martha’s Vineyard and I made a joke to my instructor about buzzing some rich assholes and he replied “Yeah fuck the Clintons.” I just thought okay yeah but not like how you mean.

I agree when it comes to OpenAI and Anthropic going “Uh oh guys looks like we made fucky wucky and our new model is really powerful and dangerous.” That’s just marketing. But there are True Believers (mainly from the LessWrong community) who really think AI is going to turn us all into paperclips.

Also as a person with an unhealthy attachment to his first car that he still owns, understandable that it’s sort of the default answer when it comes to important cars.

My dream EV conversion is a Karmann Ghia. My grandfather had one and he died before he could get it running, and it left the family before I became interested in cars and wrenching.

From what I’ve seen, the only AI-critical argument he’s heard is from the Yudkowskian “AI is gonna destroy us all” camp. So from either side the assumption is that AI is going to be big and important, and not just a massive waste of money and resources for a mediocre lying machine.

Not to spoil anything about FNV but Luck and either Intelligence or Strength are your primary stats you want to boost. Charisma barely affects anything outside of Skills, which can be boosted on their own later anyway.

I’m like half and half on wrenching. It’s satisfying to fix things you own on the cheap, but so many parts out there now are crap. Just in the last two months I’ve had a brand new brake master cylinder and a brand new wheel bearing fail. And these are reputable brands!
