It's true lots of people *like* Jarrett just come in to be the decider on disputes, don't work with local partners, see staff as enemies. But that is 1000% the opposite of what I saw, and the system is almost the best it's been in years. It's almost like you have no idea what you're talking about.

It's interesting, because when I was a local transit advocate I saw them come in and highlight, not plaster over, the political and structural issues. The suburban counties came on board in a way literally never before seen, and the city allowed a lot of efficiency changes at the agency.

Yes real ones will get a private car attached to an Amtrak. Though that might be tough with overtime and getting home. But Amtrak would get so much rizz if they made it work.

Maybe the way to pay the least would be to live in MontCo and have the training facility there, then you wouldn't pay PHL taxes except game days, and no NJ at all due to the tax agreement. Would pay EIT though. Lots of mansions on the Main Line.

Right but that is for PA/NJ residents, right? So you'd pay NJ taxes on practice days and PA+PHL taxes on game days and NYS/NYC taxes on all days (plus the other states on away days). But for others they could live in NJ and pay only NJ (and PHL on game days), but that's higher than PA(+PHL).

Are they the only hotel union in town? I wonder if another one might sweep in, say their goal is to grow membership and jobs and work for high wages through negotiations rather than limiting supply. Also I love Vancouver political party names, just absolute top notch every time.

In a weird way it might actually be better in Canada, because Canada and the US have a tax treaty so you'd get a credit or deduction for state taxes, while most US states don't have that for money earned in other states. Canada also only taxes you in your province of residence. So no double tax.

Oh good point! NJ has much higher tax rates than PA or even PA+PHL, at least at the top. I wonder if the players liked this move. I guess if you earn less than $500,000 it's cheaper in NJ, so maybe the players who have less money get more consideration than the stars who get enough.

I guess if the idea is enough people hate tall buildings that the opposition will win in the fall and be indebted to the union, then sure I get the strategy. But it seems like filibustering from LA is not winning them fans.

Well yes he would pay real estate tax anywhere he has property, just like anyone. But yes, lots of tax.

Yes same with musicians and so on. But half your games will be in the state your team plays, and NY has no tax agreements so residents just get double taxed. PHL tax shouldn't apply for away games, but the other state taxes will.

Presumably they could do a union drive once it opens?
