Exactly. And given the way Canadian schools select students, we're fairly sure she'll get in to her two on that side of the border, the bigger question is how we'd make it work $$-wise.

And if not and she ends up at local safety school (Not Rutgers and not where I teach) then that's ok too.

You'll be happy (and DG is sad) that the school in Durham has been dropping down her list. It's now maybe 4th, and she's pretty sure she won't get it since she's not applying early decision.

Depending on the school it can be minimal, and having been at a few by this point, while there can be qualitative differences there's a lot of #BRAND that goes into things and depending on the subject, etc many places are perfectly fine. The big thing is really finances and resources.

The decision we came to is "nope." Kid2's guidance counselor is all over her because 8 of her 9 schools she's applying to are "reach schools" but it's like why apply to a public out-of-state when it costs as much as a private and many privates waive tuition under certain income levels.
