I especially like the "I felt pressured to do this" angle which immediately places the blame on us for the unreasonable demands of.. putting out a single 10 minute long youtube video per week on a channel he owns.

Now the first thing I did when I had the money to do so was get rid of my hand-me-down color TV and get a JVC with the good outlets. The improvement was immediate and obvious and everyone who was into games as a hobby was upgrading as well.

A large part of that may have been TVs lasting literally decades at that point in time and if you were still a kid good luck explaining to your parents how the TV set that was state of the art in 1985 and hooked up to a cable box perfectly fine was Bad, Actually, and they needed to upgrade.

Once upon a time developers would release a game and then expect hardware to catch up to it later on.

Maybe it wasn't common in the 16 bit era but if you were an enthusiast you were not using RF if better options were available on your TV set. By the start of the PS1 era RF cables were no longer even included in the box, on PS1, Saturn and N64 you had to buy an RF connector separately.
