"they grow like sleeping beauty" is exactly it. it's wild how like one vine with go up and over other plants that are like seven feet tall and then drape down to the ground

In the meantime it's not so bad that my yard yields a bunch of blackberries every year as a product of us doing absolutely nothing to the plants.

I've heard we also have native blackberry plants (Rubus ursinus) that are equally delicious, though. It's good to know that if we ever did get rid of Rubus armeniacus it wouldn't mean we got rid of all the blackberries, because that would be sad.

I wish someone would seedbomb everywhere here with native plants

They have hummingbird hawkmoths, which perform the same role and fly like hummingbirds, but are actually moths. Idk if releasing hummingbirds would crowd them out, or if it would be just like one additional pollinator, like how butterflies and hummingbirds share flowers here.

Oh I think Mount Eerie has like 11 albums. It's what The Microphones turned into after 2003. I don't really have any recommendations, they're not for everyone and not really a "bangers" band

I did not have the same reaction he did to Stereolab, but I do like Mount Eerie.

I saw him play in Indiana in 2009 with his project Mount Eerie and he strummed one chord for ten minutes while showing us footage of trees taken out of the window of a car, projected on to a sheet in the back of the room

Yeah, my mom was a preschool teacher, so reading was a Big Thing for me as a kid

Yeah, I mean, I think it makes sense that a strong reader might automatically sort of teach themself to use these strategies to try to navigate difficult texts, but I can see how it would make reading a lot harder for a new reader who doesn't have a wide base vocabulary under their belt already

I also began reading before I was taught just from being read to a LOT growing up, but I know for me being officially taught helped me read better. I was also in love with books from a young age so I was very excited to use the skills I was learning almost immediately and used them a lot on my own.

I bet if I meditated for ten minutes before I read it would be easier...I should try that.
