yeah I'm keeping proton for my main personal email and stuff but the business has just been dealing with too many rough edges to keep on with it. and hubspot integrates with google well. ugh this feels like voting in america. poop vs pee vs a potted plant that will never get elected

calendars work weird with other people who use like, normal calendars too. they released video conferencing but it's wonky. no chat functions. a lot of things just function weird and bad

if you find any good alternatives lmk, because I am really not thrilled about giving money to companies that provide IT infra to the IDF

it's just a lot worse than the standard offerings in terms of documents and such. feature-poor compared to, say, Google docs (and obviously Word is Word)

oh and by "Proton is a better option" I meant ethically, not functionally. the docs and drive are shite

Microsoft did one small thing to curb its support for the IOF but still supports Israel. god this is a depressing choice

gotta switch off Proton for the business because even though it's a better option, it's just not doing it for us. choosing between Google and Microsoft Azure is like "do you want a poop or a pee"

so like, scenes of any sort should do this sort of community vigilance as well. and they often do! better than most leftist orgs, in my experience. we all need to look out for each other and protect each other, because nobody's going to do it for us 🫶 so please take my words to heart and remember!

this goes beyong organizing contexts! like, my good pal warned me about a rapist from the Pgh hardcore scene who jumped ship to Philly, and no joke I had just hung out with him a night or two prior and he was acting very problematic. piss drunk demanding to sleep on my couch. blocked & warned others

oh and something important to note that I thought to add, when rapists get outed, they will often try to move to a new city and make a new life where nobody knows them. so it's important, if you are a part of an organization that had such a person, and that org is national, to put the word out!

even if it causes internal divisions or interpersonal strife, we need to practice the values we preach. I've been in the exceedingly uncomfortable position of telling people who were formerly friends, who I organized with for years, that they are no longer welcome. it needs to be done, with urgency
