When will Carney put a stop to this?

Carney is a central banker their specialty is creating unemployment. They call it reducing demand and they do it by raising interest rates.

Canada needs to distance itself from the US. To do that it needs to grow the domestic economy not other exports. For too long Canada has been a a drawer of water and hewer of wood. The country has amazing assets that have been allowed to atrophy by myopic governments.

As professor Adam Tooze says, you can't make an agreement with thugs. And the notion that you can play chess with them, 4 dimensional or otherwise is ludicrous. Chess assumes rules. If thugs don't like how the game is going they simply clear the board and enforce their demands.

Canada has an infinite supply of money. The scarce money myth has held Canada back for decades.

Canada can't be like Norway because unlike Canada, The state owns the oil and gas in Norway. In Canada the assetsvarebowned privately and the profits go to private companies.

Carney likes to talk about Canadian oil but those assets are not owned by the state, they are owned by private interests. Capitalism rewards ownership but Carney wants public assets owned by privateers. Contrast Norwegian oil and Alberta oil, the former state owned, the latter privately owned

Taxes are not revenue for the federal govt. It can easily pay for 24 Sussex or Stornoway, but can also easily pay for national daycare, pharmacare, dentalcare. The fact it doesn't is a choice based on ideology. Moscrop needs to understand the fed govt is not a household, it is a currency issuer

Not all teachers denegrated the trades I know one music teacher who regularly reminded students about the trades and the advantages they offered.

Obviously Canadian politicians are suffering from long covid and catching logically and reasonably.

This is so bad on so many levels. I despair for this country. My 8 year old nephew can grasp why this kind of action by a currency issuing govt is not just unnecessary, it reinforces the myth of " scarce" money that is destroying our universal Healthcare and so much of our govt provided services.

MMT shows us that it isn't a debt. QE showed how it can be eliminated. The real question is whether the spending noticeably and measurably improved govt services and the lives of average people? Did it create world beating technology? The "debt" was created by anemic growth, induced by austerity.
