When we were on WIC and SNAP many, many years ago, the local farmers' market was the best use of our resources, hands-down. A lot of people don't know you can do this.
Mike HenryAnd go out and find a farm market, where local produce is grown and sold! Yes, it will be more expensive, but if you get SNAP benefits, you might be able to double the value of the benefits that you spend there.

This is exactly what happens when public health agencies are stripped of staff and resources. You can’t cut the people responsible for tracking outbreaks, freeze hiring, reorganize the agency, and then expect the same level of response when a public health crisis emerges. We all deserve better.
