My ticket stub for a Babes in Toyland show at First Avenue on this day, July 31, 1995. Sources suggest this was a post-tour homecoming show, the first of back-to-back nights. The scheduled openers were Guzzard and Stepchild.

On this day. July 31, 1974.The Cabooze opens. One newspaper account lists this date as the grand opening. The first night features the Friends Road Show, described as "a 13-member European troupe that combines rock & roll with mime, including jugglers, clowns, magicians and a fire eater."

On this day: July 28, 1983. Simon and Garfunkel played to about 28,000 people at Parade Stadium in Mpls. It was apparently the last major concert at the facility, which was demolished in 1990.

RIP Jennifer Finch. The first time I saw L7 was at the Uptown Bar. I believe this was that show. Such a force.
