Whenever people ask, "what's a good app I can make to learn programming?" the most obvious answers are apps like to-do lists or text editors. But there's a secret third answer: a damage calculator for MMOs you play. If you're going into this rabbit hole, you might as well go as deep as you can.

I've known ELIZA for a little while now -- I'm still fond of the BASIC port that I saw when I studied NLP -- but I never realised that the original code was actually available too! Context: ELIZA was one of the earliest 'chatbot' programs, written in 1966! The 'ELIZA effect' was named after it.

I accidentally popped into YouTube Studio's Inspirations tab. Some of the topics here are admittedly interesting to discover, but the horrendous titles and thumbnails made me want to NOT feed YouTube what it wants. So, instead, I figured I'd talk about these topics here, in this thread! (1/7)

'Data centre' is an understandably new boogeyman that everyone's slinging left and right. I don't defend their construction on communities that already disapprove of them, but often people have littlegrasp of what 'data centres' are. They've been around long before OpenAI et al.!

While this is a good advice, do note that URL parameter/query string is /NOT/ indicative of a tracker. It's a valid technique for injecting variables into a URL, but it has been abused by many websites. One good example of its use is to tell a website which part of an article you're quoting!

My favourite phase in making videos for my channel, be it a longer video or Shorts, is that time when I have to ask myself, "am I communicating this for myself, or for others?" Because I do believe that a technical topic shouldn't be limited to those that understand the jargon(s)!
