For Alan’s #OverTheRainbow I have several birdies: European Bee-eater, Junior Hawfinch, Junior Great Spotted Woodpecker, Cetti’s warbler, Eurasian Jay, Bluethroat, Cuckoo, Treecreeper. #BirdIfTheDay 🪶

They stop by more often now. Really looks like there aren’t enough 🦟 🐞 🦟 for the birds at the moment. The woodpeckers still are frequent flyers as well. You can see its tiny tongue. Nuthatch 🪶 Boomklever

Mrs Blackbird raiding the “cupboard”, behaving like she hasn’t eaten in a month. Very partial to mealworms. Not surprising since the actual 🪱 are hiding beneath solid hard soil. Don’t forget to supply water. 🪶

Breakfast service. I learned some interesting things about the Bee-eater: the adults help each other raising the juveniles. So this might not even be the parent delivering the food. I really had no choice when it comes to Alan’s #YourChoice. I’m totally smitten with these birds. #BirdOfTheDay 🪶

This silly woman went out in the heat to find #butterflies. But it was too hot even for the butterflies. I found only a few, but this one was a first for me, a Sooty Copper. Very sooty indeed. Bruine Vuurvlinder #insects #pollinators
