But what woman over 40 hasn’t had to shapeshift to simply survive in workplaces where adolescent white maleism is the constant norm?

Again, I don’t know the full facts or feelings of people involved. But I don’t have to know more to know that repeating this idea that she has “power” and “authority” over a bunch of good ol’ boys is a capitalist boot-staps myth AI will still be writing about long after it has killed us all.

Workplaces certainly aren’t some secret bastions of morality where key cards can erase everything outside their doors. And a police department is the *last workplace on earth* where that keycard is gonna undo the decades of structural and systemic racism and sexism they have built inside and out.

I don’t know all of the stories or facts—or the feelings of the people involved. But I also know that it’s ridiculous to assume that Her is in a “position of power” over an entire police department just because she is by law. This is a dept that is 80 percent white, and 85 percent male. 2/

This is a well-done story. It’s old-school alt-journalism. It doesn’t need “crime data” or talking heads. Just complex, nuanced experiences of complex, nuanced humanity and the ways gun violence reshapes every aspect of it.

I remember thinking, Man. I won’t have to look at another “fireworks or gunshots” text again. But the tragedy is that I am now forever conditioned to *imagine* those texts nearly every night I hear pops. Like, maybe I was Tina’s Dog! POP POP. [Gets annoyed about some texts from 2019-2025].

Last year, a neighbor I often referred to as “Gunshots Tina” moved away. One can easily imagine how many neighborhood alerts asking “fireworks or gunshots?” a person (me) has been forced to see before some asshole (me) starts using this name “in jest” among a select few other assholes. Anyway:

The Dem strategy is always "we just need to win this seat." It's never, we know we can't win this seat, but we CAN use this as the opportunity we need to bring out a powerful leader for justice who can connect with people, listen, grow our base, and shift what power means and who holds it.

I don't know! I think that they are actually more strategic than we like to imagine.

When you consistently operate as a "party" that just needs to win seats to "win," you've already determined the parameters of what is politically possible. That's not a party. That's a brand ambassador for the white, educated, status quo middle-class. Who wants to do any free labor for that?

This is why the Dems are so bad at any long-game. And everything else. They don't have any core vision or even a moral center to pivot to the anything but winning single seats and more milquetoast moderate careers. There's no one who would give up their own electoral win for the longer vision.

If you want to rile up your base for a different electoral victory than winning the governorship, Demuth isn't it. But that's the thing about them. It's never about that specific seat. It's about who is best at propagating the conspiracy theories and dangerous narratives and racism they need to win.

It's crazy to me that MN Republicans want to run Mr. My Pillow. Not because of who or how terrible he is, but bc it seems wholly unwinnable. This means either I'm wrong, and numbers show something wild. Or they have a strategy to just use him as the stump shill to win the state House and Senate.

And I also want to see what was filed by her former friend in Ramsey County last year.

- She closed the investigation into the Rose St use of force in defense of ICE while her administration denies they did - She wants to raise taxes - She didn't do a damn thing to protect us from ICE Fire Her.

So far that story tells us that Her is wildly inappropriate and unfit for her job; she is being set up by cops (acab); or she is so bad at and miserable in a job she didn’t want or expect to get in the first place she will do whatever it takes to get out. Or maybe it is all of the above.
