12. Do you have a favorite character? Hmm... I think Elizabeth is a fun one and a character I very much enjoy writing, but it feels a bit like cheating 'cause she was meant as a tribute to Milla. Maybe Laura? She's fun to write and enjoyable as a character manipulating everyone including herself.

11. Have you ever had writer's block? Yes, though I think it was mainly a manifestation of depression and general burn out. When I couldn't get into a PhD program I ended up losing a lot of confidence in my own abilities and no longer feeling up to write until I started Packbound.

10. What's the most wholesome thing you've written? Probably the scene with Brie (the little wolf puppy alter of the protagonist in Packbound) fronting for the first time and just being doted on by her sisters. It's definitely a bit of a respite from the rest of everything.

9. What are your favorite themes? The internal conflict between ones notions of who they are and what they actually are, deprivation, corruption, radical self expression, agency vs comfort, personas and masks, psychological manipulation, repression, abjection, self-actualization through monstrosity

8. Where do your ideas come from? I'll often fixate on something that I want to see in fiction for a long time, perhaps not necessarily even in my own, but I'll come up with interesting concepts for it and places it can go. Eventually, I decide that I'm tired of waiting and just wanna do it myself.

7. What's your least favorite part of writing? Honestly? Exposition and lore It's not that I don't come up with cool, weird ideas for my settings, but I'd rather have them presented outright or in an interesting package, instead of just having people sitting around and talking about it.

6. What's your favorite type of symbolism? I like multi-faceted symbolism that has one obvious meaning, yet also hints at numerous possible implications. I'll often have my own specific interpretation of something that departs from the main purpose, and it's cool to see what others think.

5. What's your favorite type of scene to write? I like writing scenes where the unreal/uncanny blends with reality and results in a superposition of the two, rather than one being entirely divorced from the other. It's striking and exhilarating when it feels like I pull it off well.

4. Who is your favorite author? It's hard for me to pick one favorite author, but I can say that some of the ones most influential on me are Thomas Ligotti, Carmen Maria Machado, and Jorge Luis Borges. There are other authors I love equally to them, but they had some of the biggest impact.

Feel like there have been a few promising stops and starts for reviving the slenderverse over recent years, redredhat and rosswood standing out as particularly strong, but it just doesn't feel like anything has truly set itself apart with a unique tone or visual identity.

3. Do you usually write happy, sad, or other kinds of endings? Most of what I write is horror, so typically the endings I write are either dark at least have a lingering element of unease. Generally, I try to let the flow and logic of the story itself determine the ending and its tone.

2. What's the scariest thing you've ever written? When it comes to whole stories, I still find a lot of the ideas in Running On Fumes pretty disturbing and want to recreate more of that vibe in LVA. For individual scenes, I'm still really proud of the build-up and bloodletting ritual in LVA.

1. What's your favorite part of writing? I think it would be those moments of epiphany where you're trying to think out the way a scene should play out and then things start locking into place and reinforcing themes and inspiring even more ideas. It's like tapping into a rich vein of your own mind.
