Those who dismiss Warhol as merely artist of Campbell's Soup Cans are likely unaware he spent a decade as a commercial illustrator before becoming a Pop artist in 1960s. That's where he learned many techniques he would later use; note similarity of color/B&W split between ad & later Marilyn painting

Final day for this absolutely stupendous Klee show, which I've now seen three times - and would honestly love to visit three more. It illuminates Klee's nimble & protean artistic vision and also highlights painful parallels between his life under National Socialism in Germany and our current moment

FWIW, when I've chaired search committees I've always made it a point to keep applicants in the loop (via letters or emails). But it's honestly wild that in most cases it's basically all up to the search chair to do so
