I’m done. Absolutely done with anyone who still pretends this is no big deal. I don’t care what anyone says about the damage that will or will not happen. People keep missing – or ignoring – the point completely. Elon Musk is dangerously reckless. This is an example.

It’s the uncontrollable attitude, no pun intended, and the sheer number of rockets this guy is launching to make his billions. It’s the grift. It’s the Nazism. It’s a bad guy doing insane things over and over and over and insisting that it’s okay if people die for the greater good.

Hitting the moon at all is no easy feat. That’s a lot of luck, unless you have a lot of iterations that increase the chances. The chances of a failure resulting in a lunar strike? Astronomical, no pun intended. The chances of hitting Earth? MUCH HIGHER.

The scary thing is that the ones that are supposed to land on terra firma carry dangerous amounts of fuel and are more likely to lose signal during re-entry. Starlink launches usually end at sea so we’re not talking about those numbers. But this thing had a failure that could have easily gone south.

The point is, they lost control of something that is supposed to be able to land on a boat… or if it can’t, a designated watery graveyard. I’m not so sure I want that many rockets being flown by this company anymore, if they managed to hit the moon that’s a lot of mass.

What’s it going to do when it hits the moon? Who knows? It will produce some good science. Was it supposed to hit the moon? No. That’s the problem. Was Hyabusa supposed to glance off that asteroid? No, but there was a calculated risk that it wouldn’t have worked, a very, very low risk of danger.

You don’t blame God for space rocks hitting space rocks. That’s God. Elon is not God, no matter what he thinks of himself. The crash into the moon is barely the point. It’s irresponsible. It’s a failure that I guarantee he didn’t think about, nor does he think he needs to think about.
