Doing the baseball things at @MLB dot com. BBWAA. NYC. BU. NJ. Sometimes I play the bass. Go @njdevils.

You know who's having a weird season? The Rangers, who have had lots of good things happen on offense and yet have not scored any more runs at all

Random under the radar reliever name I find really interesting: Ryan Zeferjahn of the Angels. He'd be a good fit for the Cubs because I think they like his fastball shape. He'd be a good fit for the Phillies because I would enjoy seeing what those people would do to his last name.

Wrote about the Phillies, who - have the team's worst RHB OPS in decades - have the team's weakest OF in decades ... and face a very tough RH OF market to try to fix this. Who's out there? --> www.mlb.com/phillies/new...

The Phillies lineup has a glaring problem. Is a Deadline solution out there?Bryce Harper says his Phillies “need some help” as the Deadline nears, and that’s an entirely correct statement. The Phillies do need help, and in more than one way. For one thing, they probably need ...www.mlb.com

Has anyone noticed the Mets rotation has been fantastic lately

I'm not sure I see fit here, familial connections aside. The Phillies need a RHB a lot more than a LHB one, and Varsho's had a pretty crummy year anyway.

Javier Assad throws 96 now?

What's going on, tarps-offers

All year, I was excited to see that Antonio Senzatela moving to the bullpen would turn him into a shockingly interesting trade guy at the deadline. Maybe that's less true now.

Jeff Hoffman has had an absolutely bizarre year where he's had some massive blow-ups, but also since the start of June, has a 1.33 ERA with a 27/7 K/BB. I have no idea what to make of him, but I think someone will be happy to trade for him.

Best bets for Skubal: Cubs, Braves, or Brewers. Yes, the Dodgers are always in the mix until they aren't, but those are the Big Three for me.

Fun with the Phillies rotation When Sánchez, Wheeler, or Luzardo start: 43-18, .705 win% When anyone else starts: 14-34, .292 win%

Hear me out: the Phillies should hire Rob Thomson to give the team the charge they need

Most of Arraez's defensive improvement was tied up in a very, very good start, and it's been basically average since. That's a good thing, not a bad thing, though. Average is a huge step forward, and lets his bat play there very well. baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/...

I don't really have any idea who this is, which I guess makes me out of touch With The Kids www.nytimes.com/athletic/747...

The rise of Frank ‘The Tank’ Fleming and the big business of being mad at the MetsThe Barstool Sports personality built a following on Mets misery, and in this woeful season, his anger has resonated with Mets fans.www.nytimes.com

I am not a football knower, so feel free to correct me, but: Isn't the fact that Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa are not healthy just about the most predictable thing? www.nytimes.com/athletic/747...

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has 25 games left to not go a full season without a home run in Toronto. I cannot believe that's a sentence I just wrote.

As someone who has been watching the Blue Jays extremely closely the last few years .. it's pretty weird to think that Varsho, Springer, and Gausman are all almost certainly in their final days with the team
