7 July Ringo's birthday in 1940 and Paul's dad Jim McCartney's birthday in 1902. When The Beatles returned to Liverpool on 10 July 1964 after conquering the world, Paul bought his dad a house and a racehorse! Wonder what his brother Mike got his dad for his birthday that year?!

30 June 1960 Paul McCartney buys his Rosetti Solid 7 guitar from Frank Hessy's Music Centre on Stanley Street in Liverpool. With the departure of original Beatles bassist Stuart Sutcliffe in 1961, the instrument was adapted into Paul's first bass by means of some strings snipped from a piano

This series was really good and really well written by Catherine Shepherd (who you might remember from Peep Show and much else and whose dad used to play Wycliffe)
