It shouldn't take a linguist to tell you "X is about to happen" and "CEO says X is about to happen" are two very different statements with different truth conditions.

I mean, yes, this woman and her child are at risk of being killed by her "powerful, previously convicted criminal" husband after "experiencing forced underage marriage and extreme violence, including rape". But does she really think that's worse than me wasting an hour a day writing my own emails?

It's all this dril post on steroids: AI may lie to kill a woman and her child to keep deportation numbers up, but it helps a lot of people write emails no one wants to read, so it's actually really good.

We can't let AI change our moral system. It is generally wrong to lie, and extremely wrong to lie to hurt someone else for your benefit. It is also wrong to have negligent indifference to the truth for your benefit. We know all this when AI isn't involved, so why do we forget morality once it is?
