I ended up going the shader route... good grief this was a lot of work haha 🥲 I hope it was worth it!!!

I'm loosely familiar with both, but have never tried it. My idea is this: I split out the eyes, clothes, body into 3 separate AnimatedSprite2D nodes, and then, I use GD script and a shader to "color" the gray pieces to what I want. For example a tan skin, or purple eyes. This is what I'm gonna try!

Do you have any advice on how to change skin colors using shaders? I only have one skin tone right now for my 2D pixel art characters, but I would like to be able to change the NPCs in the engine to have like any skin color or eye color. I'm not sure how to do it though!

yeah, that's true, I hate that. it's bc of real estate developers! they're price fixing all the apartments. look at this ONE BEDROOM apartment! $1700 USD (1500 euros) a MONTH. This is criminal. No one can afford these. Huge buildings almost empty

I think one thing we are seriously missing in the USA, is shared sense of community. There's tribalism everywhere you go. People see others as nothing, or as enemies. Whereas in Japan, society is a community. Respect the rules, add to the community, maintain the world you live in. I want that.

VR creators have always been ravenous. I remember trying VR chat and metaverse when it first came out. People cussing, blasting the sound of porn in the background, calling people slurs. They should have handled it like blue sky honestly. There's no safety in the VR space

There's also theories now about Reddit and other websites being overrun by bots, so that's it too. All you need to do is program an agent with certain behaviors and characteristics. It'll go out in the world and spew all sorts of terrible ideas out. I've seen very few real game devs praising AI

Imo, many communities on Reddit are run by toxic man children who need therapy, and find joy in harassing people. That creates a breeding ground for tech obsessed dudes just like them who have no creative ability. AI gave them a chance to create something. Anyone who threatens that is the "enemy" 😮‍💨

Every time I see an indie dev claim they're making an MMO, I'm saddened. There is no possible way to pull off a successful MMO anymore. They're so incredibly costly, and time demanding. If the players all quit, the game is just dead. Single player is a must

Yeah you definitely got lucky. I tried it just on a whim. It is nowhere near as good as anyone claims that it is. It just feels like a piece of hot corporate trash. Even worse than unreal engine which is saying something

Unity is one of the biggest threats to indie game dev, and a purely evil company. They acquired Plastic SCM version control, acquired Speedtree and now it has no permanent license just a crappy subscription. Corporate owned and traded #indiedev #gamedev
