Get ready for the biggest Seattle transit restructure in years! Starting August 29, Metro and Sound Transit are adding, updating, and deleting dozens of routes across the region.

The decision to “open” the Rainier Ave bus lanes to cars is going about as well as you’d expect.

Every closed station entrance should have a staff member or a sign with a map showing the direction to the shuttle stop. I’ve talked with at least a dozen people who didn’t know what to do or where to go.

Great to see the new traffic patterns on Denny Way! The concrete barriers can’t come soon enough.

The train has been moved but is still in the tunnel. CID station security say the next update will be in 2 hours. Expect long Link delays today and use buses whenever possible.

Seafair also turns our neighborhood streets into parking lots.

The Mayor was essential for getting the Denny Way bus lanes across the finish line, but this project would not have been prioritized (it was her first executive order) without pressure from advocates. Congrats again to the @fixthel8.bsky.social team!

Signs for the Mount Baker Healthy Street have been installed! This Healthy Street covers the two blocks of 34th Ave between Mount Baker Blvd and Horton St (John Muir Elementary school).

Overheard on Lake Washington Boulevard yesterday evening: “Weeeeeeeeee!” “This is so cool!” “Look how fast I can go!” “It’s weird not having to worry about cars on the road”

I drove on LSD a few times this past week and saw at least one crash every trip (including a smashed car near E 57th Dr this evening). This road/highway is dangerous, pollutes neighborhoods, and blocks the city from its waterfront. Redesigning (or removing) it should be a top priority for CDOT.

While Chicago has good transit and a growing bike network, the City’s biggest strength is its housing supply. Housing comes in all shapes and sizes in every neighborhood and apartment buildings are not concentrated on noisy/dirty arterial roads. This keeps housing more affordable for everyone.

We should have 3.46x as many car-free weekends on LWB. (every weekend)

Drivers consistently threaten everyone around them by failing to follow the most basic rules of the road. We need more car-free spaces throughout our cities where people can shop, eat, play, work, and relax without the possibility of getting injured or killed by a driver.
