ICYMI: Workers at Mount Nittany Medical Center are on strike this week. They’re fighting for fair wages and better working conditions at one of the busiest hospitals in the area. The strike was a last resort in the face of unserious management proposals. Check it out:

Most times, I find TikTok to be an absolute cesspool of fear mongering, cyberbullying, and ads for products that no one needs; sometimes, I rediscover poetry I haven’t read in years. The current trend is audios of Mary Oliver reading her poetry. One favorite, The Journey:

We aren’t in imminent danger but we talked thru plans just in case; I already had a “evac in case of fire” plan in LA, now talking with my aunts about their evac plan which is essentially “open the gates for the livestock, get the dogs in the car, and pray” What a life, what a life

I watched a rather intense lightning storm a few days ago over the same mesa, likely what started the burn. It’s been extremely hot and dry lately, the whole area is just a tinderbox

We should be alright physically but man, sunset was ominous

Thankfully no one’s in harm’s way but hoobuddy, not a fan of seeing 30 foot flames rolling over the mesa

Welp, one fire turned into four fires in and around the basin near my house The sun’s down and you can still see the flames from the one earlier today up on the ridgeline. Drove over there today and watched it crest over the ridge and burn for a couple hours I think I prefer severe weather
