I'm really sorry about what happened to you. I don't know the details of Vance's family life and the degree to which he, a known liar, is telling the truth. I don't see it as my place to judge these extended relatives- Vance himself is the one who is a problem for the whole country and the world.

a continuing theme of many X Men series has been how people process trauma and advocate for their rights. I don't think the writers intended to generalize Holocaust survivors this way (at least not originally) but subsequent films etc were definitely not thoughtful on this.

Agreed that this is a problem. One dynamic (not universal) is so much contempt for the Republicans that they don't seem worth arguing with- for the same reason that there's no point in "hating" diseased rats or sewage flooding your home on a personal level.
