On this 61st anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, I’m hosting a senior-focused town hall to give a legislative update and discuss what I’m doing to preserve these vital programs that provide millions of Americans access to the health care they need when they need it.

Today, Medicaid is under threat as the largest cuts to the program in Republicans’ Big Ugly Law take effect this January. I met with Virginia Secretary of Health Marvin Figueroa and providers to discuss the impact to over 300,000 Virginians and how we can work to mitigate these cuts. #SaveMedicaid

Republican health care and food assistance cuts in the Big Ugly Law have made the cost-of-living crisis worse, as they seek to cut even more to fund President Trump’s deeply unpopular war in Iran. ICYMI: I joined Sunrise on the Hill with @dcnewsnow.bsky.social to discuss these cuts and more.

Community Project Funding allows me to partner with local officials to meet the infrastructure needs of our shared constituents. This week, I delivered $1 million each to Emporia and Lawrenceville, and $800k to Prince George County for necessary wastewater and sewage improvements.

Partnering with our state and local officials helps us address the needs of our shared constituents. I joined Henrico Board of Supervisors Chair Roscoe Cooper III and Senator Bagby for Delegate LeVere Bollings’ town hall to answer questions from residents of eastern Henrico County.

As we begin the August recess, @housedemocrats.bsky.social are kicking off our campaign to highlight how the Trump Administration and Congressional Republican policies have worsened the cost of living crisis and how we’re fighting for an affordable America.

On #WorldIVFDay, we raise awareness about infertility and strengthening in vitro fertilization. My All-American Family Agenda calls for protecting access to fertility care with technology like IVF. Individuals deserve to start a family on their terms — and I’m fighting to help them do just that.

During this final week before the August recess, House Republicans rammed through a series of bills that do nothing to address the cost-of-living crisis.

Congress last increased the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour 17 years ago today. Meanwhile, the cost of everything has skyrocketed. It’s time to raise the minimum wage.

Trump tariffs take effect today that will make the cost-of-living crisis worse as more prices go up.

Today, the Communications and Technology Subcommittee held a hearing to consider my bipartisan GUARD Act to protect the United States from robots made by foreign adversaries determined to be a national security threat.

President Trump started the war in Iran with no clear justification, strategy or goals. The American people have paid the price through skyrocketing gas prices and billions in taxpayer dollars. Today, the House passed a second War Powers Resolution to end this madness and bring our troops home.

While I support military modernization and quality of life improvements for our servicemembers, I cannot support a bill that massively expands our military’s budget as millions of Americans lose health care, food assistance and other vital programs.  Here’s why I voted no on the NDAA 🧵

Republicans’ so-called “Stop Insider Trading Act” doesn’t stop insider trading at all. But it does include a modern-day poll tax voter ID provision. Here’s what to know about the bill — and the bill that will actually stop insider trading that @housedemocrats.bsky.social want instead.

The National Weather Service has released an advisory regarding potential flash flooding in parts of Southeast Virginia, beginning this evening and continuing through Thursday. Please be sure to remain alert and exercise caution until the advisory has been lifted.

Seniors deserve accurate information when choosing health care coverage. Yet a lack of data around Medicare Advantage supplemental benefit plans leads to decisions that don’t meet people’s needs. Today, the Energy & Commerce Committee advanced my bill to improve transparency around these benefits.
