Correction: you probably don't need to click through from KSTP to get to the letter. KSTP embedded it. You just need to read it.

There's plenty of interesting stuff for everyone to approach from whatever perspective and in whatever form suits them. Recently @taylordahlin.com pointed out how interesting Heaner Terrace is, which aside from a passing mention had fallen to my editing room floor.

Farmfest used the June, rather than July, KSTP/SurveyUSA poll, so Qualls was over 15% rather than under. Whereas Schwarze was well under 15 both times.

When the party's endorsed candidate is doing so dismally in the polls that he doesn't even come close to Farmfest's 15% threshold for inclusion, he needs to do *something* to shake the race up. Completely over-the-top claims about 2012 election conduct weren't doing it.

Given that the number of original states was reduced from 13 to either 9 or 11, depending on which of the US flags you consult, it may well be that Pennsylvania was one of those that didn't make the cut, leaving the Liberty Bell homeless, and so Ohio graciously adopted it.

Presumably you can see at a glance that the arrow is pointed away from, rather than toward, the building that is being advertised as where the candidate will be. What you can't see (but may have guessed) is that the building in question looks nothing like the one depicted.

I'm far from an expert court watcher, but my money would be on Judge Menendez sticking more closely to that which is necessary to decide the case.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think the best starting point is to quote the actual statutory text and then state what the two competing interpretations of that text are.

The "in all my time" problem is a relative of the incessant finance headlines in which some number is the highest, or lowest, or most quickly increasing, or decreasing, it has been this week, or month, or year, or since some arbitrary date when it last was this high or low or up or down.

This also explains why it makes sense for Minneapolis to administer its own absentee voting separate from the rest of Hennepin County. It is roughly 1/3 of the county, which makes it comparable to Dakota and Ramsey Counties. Even with that pulled out, Hennepin is far larger.

020

I don't have that data. I would expect earlier years to have a higher return rate. The permanent absentee status has increased mailout, but some of that is to people who aren't interested in voting in a primary and won't do so even when mailed a ballot.

Here's a data table for some the largest counties, as measured by estimated mailout.

That was South Dakota.

In fairness, Schwarze's shifting position could be described as a form of tip-toeing. And if we categorize him as such, then there *are* plural tip-toeing hopefulls, Tafoya and Schwarze. But the headline sure suggests all three, which is definitely not the case.

Meanwhile, the same 1% of the US Jews, again very roughly 75,000, live in Nevada. But Nevada's population is only about 3.3 million, a lot less than Colorado's. So Jews could be somewhere very roughly around 2.2% of Nevada's population.

000

Beware that the rounding error here could be substantial. 1% could be .51% or 1.49%. So it could be 0.6% of 1.9% of the Colorado population.

100

With all due respect, this inference *is* hard. The map shows the percent of US Jews who live in a particular state. So for example, out of the 7.5 million US Jews, 1%, or about 75 thousand, live in Colorado. But about 6 million people live in Colorado, so that's about 1.25% of Colorado's population

No, the DQ was at 983 E Hennepin, which is the parking lot in font of the "Hennepin Hall" event center, on the northeast corner of Lincoln and Hennepin. digitalcollections.hclib.org/digital/coll...
