I'd like to see other governments make the connection between climate change and its tangible impacts so clear and obvious. Europe is on fire, not just figuratively but literally. It's high time we call it out and take action.

I'm glad to see these stats being reported as headline news. These tragic deaths were avoidable and the public need to understand the link between climate change > extreme heat > additional deaths. People need to understand that climate change is costing lives today and will only get worse.

I'd love to see polling on this anti-climate policy kite flying. Especially during record breaking heat & in trad Conservative heartlands of south of England. Surely most people read this during exceptionally high 30+oC heat & think 'eh? what? maybe not' If nothing else this is poor comms timing.

Amazing how much coverage the heat - and the symptoms of climate change - is getting on outlets like the BBC but how little coverage is typically given over to the causes of climate change. If there's such a strong public appetite for news on the symptoms, why not the causes? An ostrich effect?

Yet another example of the little discussed consequences of climate change. Extreme heat = lost days at school = missed education. You've also got the headache of childcare too, when it's too hot to go anywhere but many still need to work = lower productivity. There's no upside to this.
