One time Google AI confidently interrupted a search to tell me that there are THREE people in the group PENTAtonix. AI can't count to 5 (a skill Pentatonix literally taught on Sesame Street) and yet governmental agencies and corporations are tripping over themselves to hand AI the keys to the world.

The State Department said it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

I'm proud to say that while other media outlets were busy whitewashing Elon Musk's white supremacy, MAD Magazine had the journalistic courage to let me call him a bigot. Twice.

After The Economist’s interview with Elon Musk, will major media finally reassess how they cover the fascist billionaire? As its editor-in-chief did the rounds saying she was “not a Musk hater,” he was on X calling her a traitor to the West and suggesting she be murdered. Please, have some dignity.

This reminds me of a play called The Visit. It's about a rich woman who offers to donate one billion to the people in her poor home town IF one of them kills her ex-lover. Everybody refuses... but they all start buying expensive items from the ex-lover's store *on credit.* Ban prediction markets.

One of the many awful things about AI is that chatbots are imitating human *empathy* (and turning it into mindless validation of the user.) I'm worried that genuine empathy will start to sound "fake" now that bots are copying it. The bots already sullied em dashes; now they're tainting empathy.

I wrote a very short story: "Mary married her fiancee Felicia." In just five words I did more to acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people than J.K. Rowling did in all 4,000 plus pages of the Harry Potter series. She created 772 characters for Potter but my story has more canonically queer ones.
