Earth's escape velocity = 11.27 km/s, so get used to being here. I take between 5-8 K photos per year, most years. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8. Help is available 24/7 (Canada 🇨🇦). He/Him

Hello, neighbour!

Looked at my grocery receipt when I got home and saw the mandarin oranges I bought were entered as brussels sprouts. I was about to go back when I thought, "I wonder ...?" Sure enough, they're the same price.

That was a wee bit dramatic. Hail and lightning. All clear again now.

A hailstorm just blasted through. Long line of storms moving across B.C.

I don't think this is a big deal logistically, but the BCWS map changes significantly on my iMac (running Safari) when you zoom in and out. Areas that are under evacuation alert/order turn from orange to red, etc. #BCWIldfire

The red lines are BC Wildfire Service mapping of fires. Clinton, B.C. is lower left, while 70 Mile House is approximately 26 km to the upper right. The drive between them will not look the same anymore. Heartbreaking stuff happening again. #bcpoli #wildfire

PM2.5 numbers in #Kamloops are very bad today. Not sure how that translates to "Impact Level: Moderate," but I do know you should wear a mask if you must go outside. Preferably, if you can, stay inside ... somewhere with an air purifier running. #AirQuality

“I won’t repeat exactly what he said but it was not a nice way and quite explicit,” said Moreira. “The crews left, continued the work they were doing. Then later, they were called and asked to go back because this person’s property was surrounded by fire and they were not able to get out.”

The easiest way I can play #Smush! from Hank Green is to write the letters on a blank piece of paper. For my brain, there are too many little things (colours, dots, numbers) to look at and I can’t focus.

Whenever a fire season stretches BC Wildfire resources, someone being interviewed for local television drops their opinion that some part of the effort should have been done faster, with more people, more equipment, etc. B.C. is huge and fires are everywhere. There's no cop on every corner either.

Dear wildfire: you are officially too close to my parents. Don't make me come over there.

Someone's already thinking of making this a movie.
