Got home after work last night and didnt feel like i could watch the whole show in one sitting, so watching now. ⭕️ '96!! Set 2 is siiiiccckkkkk.

I can definitely see how it could produce mixed feelings, or at least unexpected ones. It's kind of a Pandora's box.

We rarely if ever talked about it before last year. I dont think he thought he would find his birth mom alive, just was curious about what info there was in adoption records. And now he has 3-4 new siblings.

For most of human history, we have acted as if we were separate from nature. As if forests, oceans, rivers, and wildlife existed solely for our use. But the truth is simple. We are not separate from nature. We are part of nature. We need nature. Without nature, humanity will not survive.

Our parents never discussed any adoption information with us. I'm glad that mindset has changed. My brother is my brother, and our mom was his mom. But he had another mother, blood brothers and sister. And never got to know them. But he will, soon. 8/

He learned that his step siblings had a loving mom, but abusive, neglectful father figures. He knows his birth mom made the choice to give him a better life. So he appreciates our parents and the life he has lived in a new way. 6/

Although we were raised together, we are wired differently. So maybe I'm a little jealous that he has a bio brother and I don't. But I'm happy that void of information about where he is from has been partly filled. 5/

And now, through online searching... he has made contact with his biological siblings. Long phone calls with them. He called me yesterday, and he was a little overwhelmed. He said talking to his brother James "felt like talking to myself". TBH, that shook me a bit. 4/

It took a while, but my brother made some calls and sent some emails, and got some info on his birth mother. He learned he had biological siblings he never met, although his birth mom died in 1989. 3/

My brother was 16 months older, and we had assumed my parents adopted him as a newborn or young infant. But it seems the adoption wasnt final until after I was born. The adoption agency/orphanage? did not exist anymore, but state court adoption and birth records do. 2/

My brother and sister were adopted. I'm the youngest and was a bit of a surprise, it seems. Growing up in the '70s and '80s, people didnt search out their birth mothers and siblings. But a few years ago, I found traces of my brother's adoption online. 1/
