Children’s comic artist/writer. Bumble & Snug graphic novels published by Hachette! Represented by Lydia Silver of the Soho Agency. Talks about comics a *lot*.

2026 challenge for people who aren’t parents to understand that, yes, parents are going to be significantly delayed responding to anything nonessential during summer holidays.

New incredible Madonna album, new incredible Charli album, new incredible Olivia album, Madonna x Kylie, iconic Charli set, and now the tease of Girls Aloud archive releases, all within the space of 2 months? Whatever the universe is on right now it is doing something very, VERY right.

It’s such a boneheaded analysis. Like, yes, of course your site going to skew left because most the user base is escaped Twitter due to the whole ‘overrun by literal nazis’ thing. if we didn’t have to do that we’d still be on Twitter. It’s the entire reason you have a site.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

Watching Charli’s performance from Lollapolooza, and: GOOD LORD. Silently staring down a crowd of tens of thousands of people for 5 minutes as the David Cronenberg speech from No One Lasts Forever is a generationally great moment.

I’m SO fascinated to see what happens with superhero stories when they start going into the public domain over the next few years. Batman & Superman are up early, with a lot of heavy hitting villains like Joker, Catwoman, etc. following soon after.

Mrs Westerman & Mrs Banks at Boston Spa Comprehensive. Everything you could hope for in English teachers. We used to have such great conversations about what we were reading, and they were so good at encouraging you to argue against them.

Who was YOUR great english teacher (if you had one)? For me it was Hugh Epstein at Richmond college (RUTC). I hope he's well, wherever he is!

Actually, on the subject of comics in the classroom: One big hurdle I’ve found is teachers lacking confidence in drawing. I cannot recommend Ed Emberley’s how to draw books enough for this. He has a whole range, but Make A World & Faces are the two I’d start with.

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading this yet, but this is out in a few weeks, and I’m certain it’s going to be brilliant!

Currently looking for jobs, and already experiencing cold sweats trying to figure out how to explain ’makes comics’ is relevant experience for anything.

Something weird I keep hearing from US media: They keep talking about when the Trump presidency is over, and restoring trust, etc. and, like… they do realise it’s over, right? Theres‘s no coming back from this?

I worry that I’m nostalgic for the period when I was a child, and - as we all know - nostalgia is a vicious & false trap. And then I remember that they made cartoons for Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Toxic Avenger & Little Shop of Horrors, and think that’s actually awesome.
