Today's games design insight: If you AI is having to optimize NP-hard problems in order to win against the human, you probably have a game that will be interesting enough to be fun. But this does not necessarily prove your game is fun. But if the AI can easily solve the board, that's not good.

I started seriously working on 2 other games, and in both of those cases, the progress was much slower & messier because #claude's training had nothing to copy or adapt. First game was an "engine-builder" card game, with lots of well-known mechanics to serve as defaults. That matters, a lot.

On build 190, I am starting to see #claude opus start to struggle. This code is likely way already beyond my human capacity to understand. I've probably made more than 500 revisions to it so far. This is more recognizing a reality than any endorsement. I can see how these same tools would break when applied to real research areas, like my day-job, but android games are very "on rails" in this context. And happy to not learn a language for repetitive UX features. #android #AI #claude
