I'm not sure if this is making sense. But I used to hang out with old men a lot (barmaid) and they just hung out with other old men. The only stuff they got exercised about was in the paper and hundreds of miles from them. Now they're online and seeing all sorts of nonsense.

Older people didn't used to have a platform to communicate any of this, didn't experience most of what was going on, and didn't get swarmed on by self righteous naive numpties. They're being radicalised by other people's social media based on experiences they are not having. It's all bogeymen.

He is very old. Its not necessarily an excuse but may be an explanation. Our world has changed in an odd way and I find myself getting angry at 'young people' who are just as principled as me, but do seem to make mountains out of mole hills. Social media has a lot to do with it.

Mate, just go do your PhD and stop being bitter about others. Yes I use my Dr title for a variety of reasons. And yes, I knew what I was talking about in the conversation you barged into with a basic mistake about our education system. You didn't. Just, a weirdo right now...

We reenacted this in history at primary school... we used scrunched up newspaper. Has stuck with me for nearly forty years!

This! I did the uni thing to quite the extreme. My qualifications got me jobs with liveable salaries. Now, I have the exact same qualifications plus 20yrs experience and I can't earn a living wage. I didn't change, wages did.

I didn't think Hogwarts had fees? Its surely a standard magic comp. Harry certainly didn't pay. Hermione didn't pay. Its just that magic comps happen in a boarding school set up what with all the magic needing to he housed away from the public.

And all while having friends who lived on farms, on the Pondy, with their Dr parents... just a huge mish mash of kids doing stuff. And lots of folk music. Just mad, Enid Blyton childhood...

At one point something like 2/3 of the school were in the choir. Coupled with free instrumental lessons and national youth orchestra (with a free bus!), a physics teacher from CERN and some rather lax views on H&S I had a public school education as a working class kid. Amazing really.

I think we did fencing because someone's Dad offered to come in and teach it, and the old gym already had the (Edwardian!) markings. I love the Manx ability to just have a go at stuff because it seems good. I had an amazing education because the school could just say yes to stuff.

Hahahaha... it all seemed so normal to us, but then you start sharing school stories over here and you realise just how peculiar the IoM education system is. You should see people's faces when they hear one of my A'level classes had two students!

You got something wrong. You forgot about GCSEs as specialisation from 14. You brought up your level of qualification. You brought up the institution. You set the terms of this conversation. I'm just reflecting back. Not my fault you lost the CV top trumps you started. I'm an ethnomusicologist.

But having a rural science department did give us the most unusual sex ed classes!

True as far as I know. The more I learn about the world, the more I realise that RGS was very much not the norm! I was taught German GCSE by Jennifer Kewley Draskau! Thats definitely not normal. And we did fencing in PE.

An often missed aspect of grooming and abuse is the threat of violence done in your name if you tell (e.g. you don't want your Dad to go to prison for beating me up and he will if you tell him). And this is happening on a national scale.

Not gonna lie, revolution looks pretty good right now. But sadly we've all seen how awful so many people are and that revolution would lead to extreme unnecessary violence because some see that as a hobby.

Dude... see that Dr? Yeah. Four degrees, all Russell Group, plus all the extra GCSEs and A'levels needed to go into music. Sadly, you are 'one of those' who feels the need butt in on two women educators chatting. And I wrote a school curriculum. So yeah...

How big is that motocade? It would take ages to get anywhere with 250 cars...
